Hen-Long’s Panzerkampfwagen-III 1/14th-scale Air-Soft RC Tank. Got this in just the other day for my B-Day, was ordered through www.ThinkGeek.com. I was expecting to receive a model that would be nothing more than a cheap toy with no attention to detail and minimal functionality. I have to say that i was presently surprised to discover otherwise. The scale detail on this tank is beautiful, especially considering that it is a Made-In-China “toy” model. There are numerous small features on the hull which are modeled true-to-life. But what impressed me the most was that all twelve road-wheels (those are the wheels on the bottom of the track) have scale, true-to-life, individual torsional suspension with a surprising amount of travel. There were a few minor issues with the tank, there is a small projection on the top of the hull (hoist point for lifting the tank) which stands slightly too tall and interferes with the traversing of the turret, and i had to shave it down. With the turret at full elevation, the internal mechanism hangs on the battery-box while traversing. Finally, the smoke-generator has a woefully small heating element, and the plunger which expels the smoke is horrendously noisy. Fortunately, the smoke gen has a switch and can be turned off. None of these issues are serious and have simple fixes: turn off the smoke, shake the hook, and don’t traverse at maximum elevation. This thing is an absolute blast. @quimbyt they are at that. the LEDs are longer than the housing they are in, so the scale slitted lens-cover is not possible. At some point i intend to dremel them back and mask them properly, but that is a project for another day
Bright headlights for a toy. In combat they would had black out drive.
